Installing Quickbooks Database Server Manager

Note: When these steps are executed on the computer, that computer will act as a server for sharing files and might be answerable for file availability.

Before installing the Database Server Manager close all the programs including Quickbooks.

•  Open The downloaded File which should be named Setup_quickbooks.exe
• Follow the direction given on the screen and Enter the License Number of the QuickBooks desktop
• Now Choose the type of Install as Custom and Network Option then click next

Configuring the Server:

If you want to use the server on the default setting you do not need to configure it. To Configure Quickbooks Database Server Manager server Follow these steps”

• Open Service (Serch service in Start Menu)
• In the Service menu Open QuickBooksDB.
• In the general tab go to the service status option and stop the service if running or started.
• Now, Select Automatic, in the dropdown menu of startup type.
• Click Local System account in the Logon Tab.
• In the recovery Tab select Restart-Service from the first, second, and subsequent failures dropdown menu
• in the General tab start the Service again.

After Configuring the server you just need to set up the firewall permissions and your server is all set to work properly.

After the installation is finished Just Scan the Organization file in the Database server manager which will allow everyone in the network to access the Organization file.

Steps to Scan the Folder:

Note: In database server manager 2019, Set the folder Permissions first as it shares all of your folders.

• Search “Database” in the start menu of Host Computer and open Quickbooks Database Server Manager.
• In the Scan folder tab, Browse and select the folder in which the Company file is located.
• Click ok When you are finished.
• Click Start Scan, Whenever you want to start the scanning.

The Company file will be accessible from any computer in your network when the scan finishes.

Monitoring your Drive

• This feature helps you keep the database server manager updated by automatically detecting any new company file, It can also detect if the file is moved or changed. it does not allow you to monitor mapped drives.
• In the Monitor drive section, select the hard drives that hold your company files.

Managing the Server Manager

if you are using Quickbooks desktop 2019 or later, if the server manager is not running change the firewall settings and then run your server.

• In The system Option, you can check the location where the Database server manager is installed on your computer.
• Check the Real-time status of tools and see who is connected to them in the database server tab.

Updating

• To update the DBSM you just need to go to the update section of the server manager. Follow the guidance to update your Database server manager. The system will restart after the update. Backup Creation is a must before Opening the File

System Tab
